Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are blood suckers which are small and oval in size and shape. Adult bed bugs have flat bodies but after feeding on blood their bodies swell and become reddish in color. They do not fly but they can move quickly on floors, walls, and ceilings. Female bed bugs can lay hundreds of eggs over a lifetime and under good conditions, they can develop fully in as little as a month and produce three or more generations per year.

Bed bugs enter through our homes undetected via clothing, luggage, used beds, and other items. They are so flat they can enter through a space as thin as a credit card. They don’t have colonies but they live together in places like mattresses, bed frames, box springs, and head boards where they can have access to people whom they can bite at night. Overtime, they may spread to other locations in the room. Bed bug bites may be painless at first but they become itchy later on. They are hard to recognize that’s why we often associate itchy bites to other factors like mosquitoes.
